Where are you located?
Comeback Story Counseling is located at the following address:
873 Cleveland Avenue Loveland, CO 80537
We’re just a few blocks north of the downtown area – a convenient spot with a welcoming vibe.
If you choose to meet through telehealth, you can connect with us from any private space with reliable Wi-Fi, as long as you’re within Colorado state lines.
How does telehealth work?
Telehealth is easy and flexible – just you, your counselor, and a secure video connection.
All you need is a private space and solid Wi-Fi, and you can access our services from anywhere in Colorado.
It’s a great option if you’re outside Loveland or prefer the comfort of home.
How long are your sessions?
All counseling sessions (individual, couples, or family) last 50 minutes.
This isn’t (just) so your therapist can sneak in a coffee break.
It’s a duration chosen with care based on how long people can stay fully present and engaged in the deep, meaningful work of therapy.
Your counselor will pace the session thoughtfully, wrapping up on time so you leave feeling grounded, not overwhelmed. Your brain will appreciate it!
What are your rates?
Rates vary depending on the clinician and service you choose.
You’ll see the exact pricing laid out clearly in our booking portal when you select your counselor and session type. No surprises here.
We also offer sliding-scale fees on a limited basis based on eligibility. Reach out if you’d like to explore this option.
What insurance do you take?
Comeback Story Counseling operates as a private-pay practice and doesn’t bill insurance directly.
That said, some clients successfully receive out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance plans.

Why don’t you accept insurance?
Remaining a private-pay practice lets us focus on you, not insurance companies. It gives us the freedom to offer personalized care without the limits or red tape of corporate requirements.
It also keeps your therapy maximally confidential and on your terms.
Plus, you won’t be just another patient in a generalist’s packed caseload. Our structure allows us to focus on the clients who will benefit most from working with us, making sure you get the attentive, focused care you deserve.
What’s your cancellation policy?
We keep it simple and fair:
Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
Life happens – we get it – and we’ll work with you as much as we can. Our boundaries are clear but kind, so if we say “yes” to an accommodation, it’s with a genuine smile.
I’ve never done therapy before. Where do I even start?
No pressure, no prerequisites – just show up as you are.
The first step is a free consultation, which is a no-strings opportunity to open up your story a little and see if we’re a good fit. We’ll ask questions to understand what brings you here and explain how we can help – whether that’s tackling trauma with EMDR, exploring your inner world with IFS, or rebuilding relationships.
You don’t need to have it all figured out; we’ll walk you through the process step by step. And if we aren’t the best match for you, we’ll help you get one step closer to finding who is.
When you’re ready to start, book a session through our portal, and we’ll take it from there.
Mike specializes in men’s issues. Does he see female clients, too?
Who is Justin, and what does he bring to the practice?
Justin is our other talented counselor, specializing in couples therapy – especially high-conflict dynamics and infidelity repair. He also offers substance recovery and support for LGBTQ individuals.
Whether you’re navigating a rocky relationship or seeking personal breakthroughs, Justin’s steady, compassionate presence can help you find your way forward.
Who are your ideal clients?
Mike loves working with men ready to break free from addictive habits, stagnation, or passivity – guys who want to build confidence and show up fully in their careers, communities, and relationships.
Justin thrives with couples stuck in rocky patterns, as well as individuals wrestling with substance dependency or exploring LGBTQ-related concerns. If you’re ready to take ownership of your story, we’re here for you.
What types of therapy do you offer?
We’re all about meeting you where you are.
Mike specializes in trauma and EMDR, attachment psychology, parts work (Internal Family Systems), and narrative therapy – perfect for rewriting the stories that hold you back and achieving lasting change.
Justin brings expertise in relationship counseling, substance recovery, and identity-focused support.
Whether in-person or via telehealth, we tailor our approach to your unique needs.
How do I know if your approach will work for me?
Great question. The fit matters.
In your first session, we’ll explore what you’re facing and tailor our approach to your needs.
If it’s not clicking, we’ll be honest and help you find the right path forward, even if that’s elsewhere.
What’s EMDR, and is it right for me?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapy for processing trauma, anxiety, or stuck points that keep you from moving forward.
It helps your brain rewire how it holds onto painful memories, responds to charged situations, or interprets other people’s moods and actions.
Mike uses EMDR with men and women dealing with everything from big-T traumas to lingering emotional blocks.
It’s not for everyone, but in your first session we can talk through your experiences and see if it’s a good fit – or whether another approach, like IFS or narrative therapy, might suit you better.
I’m worried therapy will feel too touchy-feely or judgmental. Will it?
We hear you. Therapy can sound like it’s all about feelings or airing dirty laundry.
Our approach is different. We’re not here to judge or push you into the emotional deep end.
We focus on practical progress, like breaking free from habits, building confidence, and navigating conflict.
Think of us as partners in figuring out what’s holding you back and how to move forward, using proven therapies that are structured and goal-oriented. You set the pace, and we keep it focused.
Can therapy help with my substance use, even if I’m not sure I’m ready to quit?
Absolutely. Chronic dependencies – whether to substances, behaviors, or habits – are something both Mike and Justin have deep experience with. You don’t need to be “ready to quit” to start.
We’ll meet you where you are, exploring what’s driving the cycle and what you want your life to look like. Using narrative therapy, IFS, or addiction-focused strategies, we’ll help you uncover the roots and build small, meaningful steps toward change. No pressure, just progress at your speed.
And don’t worry: We know how to spot when additional or different care is needed. We won’t keep you hung up on a process that’s not going to serve you where you are.
I’m in a high-conflict relationship. Can you really help us?
Relationships can feel like a battlefield when cycles of contention take hold, but Justin specializes in helping couples find a way through.
He creates a space where both partners can be heard, using practical tools to de-escalate tension and rebuild connection. Whether it’s communication breakdowns, trust issues, or recurring fights, Justin’s approach will help you clarify what part is yours and how to make meaningful moves that open the doors up for change.
If you’re both willing to show up, there’s hope. And if you’re not sure, a first session can clarify what’s possible.
How long does it take for therapy to make a difference?
There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline: Your journey depends on what you’re working through and where you want to go.
Some clients notice shifts after a few sessions, especially with focused tools like EMDR for specific traumas. Others, tackling deeper patterns or relationship dynamics, might work with us for months to see lasting change.
We’ll check in regularly to make sure you’re moving toward your goals and adjust as needed. It’s not about rushing; it’s about rewriting your story at a pace that sticks.
What if I don’t know what I want out of therapy yet?
That’s more common than you think. Plenty of folks start with a vague sense of “something’s off” or “I want more from life.”
We’ll use our first session to dig into what’s going on. It might be a habit you’re stuck in, a relationship that’s draining you, or a past trauma that’s lingering.
Mike’s narrative therapy and IFS can help you uncover what’s driving that feeling, while Justin’s couples or dependence/compulsion work can pinpoint relationship or personal goals.
You don’t need a clear map; we’ll help you draw it as we go.
